Description
Official issue from France for the year 2026, with a face value of 50 Euro in silver, minted in PROOF quality, dedicated to the Musée d'Orsay, one of the most prestigious museums in the world and an absolute reference for Impressionism and 19th-century French art. The coin is minted in high-ppurity silver with a PROOF finish, combining mirror fields and matte reliefs of great definition that enhance both the artistic and architectural details of the design. This issue is part of the Monnaie de Paris program dedicated to great French monuments and cultural institutions. The obverse depicts several emblematic works preserved in the Musée d'Orsay. In the foreground are Ours Blanc by François Pompon and Portrait de l’Artiste by Vincent van Gogh. Behind them are Le Fifre by Édouard Manet and La Femme à l’ombrelle tournée vers la gauche by Claude Monet. The composition is completed by La Petite danseuse de quatorze ans by Edgar Degas, situated in front of the large clock on the fifth floor, one of the museum's most recognizable symbols. The reverse highlights the building's architecture by depicting four decorated coffers with floral motifs running along the eaves, framed by a riveted metal structure inspired by the original roof of the old Orsay station, preserved since its construction. The piece is presented in an official case with a certificate of authenticity. A limited mintage issue, especially suitable for collectors of French coinage, European art, and cultural heritage, celebrating one of the most important museum spaces in the world.
